Sri Lanka, set a modest 218 to win, wobbled in the middle before reaching their target in 47.5 overs with Tillakaratne Dilshan (73) and skipper Kumar Sangakkara (54) setting the foundation at a packed R Premadasa stadium.

Muralitharan took his 534th wicket off his last ball on home soil as New Zealand were bowled out for a below-par score of 217 in 48.5 overs.

Muralitharan, who last year retired from Tests after finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 800, now aims to win his second title -- after being part of the 1996 Cup winning squad -- in Saturday's final in Mumbai.

The whole of India and Pakistan will come to a standstill tomorrow owing to the mother of all clashes.

Music legend Michael Joseph Jackson was born on the 29th of August 1958 in Gary, Indiana. He was the 7th of nine children. (brothers: Sigmund "Jackie", Toriano "Tito", Jermaine, Marlon, Steven "Randy", and sisters Rebbie, Janet and La-Toya Jackson.

Michael began his musical career at the age of 5 as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 who formed in 1964. In these early years the Jackson 5, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and lead singer Michael played local clubs and bars in Gary Indiana and moving further afield as there talents grew and they could compete in bigger competitions. From these early days Michael would be at the same clubs as big talented stars of there days, such as Jackie Wilson and would be learning from them even back then.

In 1968 the Bobby Taylor and The Vancouvers discovered the Jackson five and from there they got an audition for Berry Gordy of Motown Records. The Jackson 5 signed for Motown and moved to California. Their first 4 singles, "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There" all made US No1 hits. The Jackson 5 recorded 14 albums and Michael recorded 4 solo albums with Motown.

The Jackson 5 stayed with Motown until 1976, wanting more artistic freedom they felt they had to move on and signed up with Epic. The group name Jackson 5 had to be changed as it was owned by Motown, so they reverted to The Jacksons as they had be known in the early days. Brother Jermaine married Berry Gordy's daughter and stayed with Motown. Youngest brother Randy joined in his place. The Jacksons had a number of hit records and in total made 6 albums between the years of 1976 and 1984.

In 1977 Michael made his first film debut when he starred in the musical 'The Wiz' playing Scarecrow with Diana Ross in the lead role of Dorothy. It was at this time Michael met Quincy Jones who was doing the score for the film.

Michael teamed up with Quincey Jones as his producer for his first solo album with Epic Records. The album titled "Off The Wall" was a big success around the world and the first ever album to release a record breaking 4 No1 singles in the US.

In 1982 Michael Jackson released the world's largest selling album of all time, 'Thriller'. This album produced 7 hit singles, breaking yet again more records, and went on to sell over 50 million copies worldwide. Michael was keen to use music video or short films as he called them to promote his singles from the album. He worked with the best directors and producers, using the latest technology and special effects for the hit song 'Billie Jean' The short film 'Thriller' used the latest make-up artists technolgy combined with fantastic dancing and cherography, to produce a 14 minute video, with a start, a middle and an ending. So successful was this video that 'The Making Of Michael Jackson's Thriller' became the world's largest selling home video combined with soaring album sales. In 1983 Michael performed the now legendary moonwalk for the first time on the 'Motown 25 years' anniversary show. This performance alone set Michael undoubtable into the realm of a superstar.

In 1984 Michael won a record breaking 8 Grammy awards in one night. The awards were for his work on the 'Thriller' album and his work on the narrative for the 'ET Storybook'.

On December 9th 1984 at the last concert of the Jackson's Victory Tour, Michael announced he was splitting from the group and going solo.

In 1987 Michael released his much awaited third solo album, titled 'Bad', and lauched his record breaking first solo world tour. 1988, Michael wrote his first autobiography, Moonwalk, talking for the first time on his childhood and his career. At the end of the 1980s Michael was named 'Artist Of The Decade' for his success off of his 'Thriller' and 'Bad' albums.

In 1991 Michael signed with Sony Music the largest ever recording contract and released his fourth solo album, 'Dangerous'. He toured world again in 1992, taking his concerts to countries that had never before been visited by a pop/rock artist. Also Michael founded the 'Heal the World Foundation' to help improve the lives of children across the world.

In 1994 Michael married Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock legend Elvis Presley. The marriage only lasted for 19 months, as they divorced in 1996.

1995 saw Michael release a fifth solo album, 'HIStory', which was a double album, first half new material and second half half greatest hits. Michael toured again over a legs covering a 2 year period. In between legs of the tour on November 14th 1996, Michael married for his second time to Debbie Rowe who was a nurse that Michael had met in the treatment of his skin pigment disorder. Together they had their first child Prince Michael Joseph Jackson jr born on February 13 1997 and a daughter Paris Michael Katherine Jackson born on April 3rd 1998.

In 1997 Michael released the remix album 'Blood On The Dance Floor' which also contained 5 new song linked with a 38min film "Ghosts". This film Michael played 5 roles using the latest special effects and make-up artistry, combined with his dance and music.

In September, 2001 Michael celebrated his 30th anniversary as a solo artist with two concerts to be held in New York, USA. Many artists such as Whitney Houston, Usher, Destinys Child, Shaggy and many more performed there own and Michael Jacksons past songs. Michael then reunited with all of his brothers and performed there biggest hits. Michael then went onto perform solo some of his biggest hits.

In October 2001 Michael released the album 'Invincible' releasing only 2 singles including the big hit "You Rock My World". Shortly after the albums release there were rumours of a rift with Sony Music and a clear lack of promotion of the album. The second single "Cry" was released with a very poor music video which did not feature Michael and no other singles were released.

In November 2003 a new single "One More Chance" was released as a single and was also a track on new compilaition album "Number Ones".

In March 2009, Michael annouced a shock comeback tour at the O2 Arena in London to start in July 2009, intially for 10 dates but the total grew to a sold out 50 dates with over 750,000 tickets sold. All sold tickets sold out within minutes of being released.

On June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson died suddenly of a reported cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old.

A married man has to invent a lie for his suspicious wife to cover up the truth of a night he spent out. As the suspicious wife inspects into the matter, the husband has to invent new lies to cover up the old ones.

That’s what ‘Golmaal Returns’ promises – entertainment unadulterated.

The movie stars Ajay Devgan , Kareena Kapoor , Arshad Warsi , Amrita Arora , Celina Jaitley , Tusshar Kapoor , Shreyas Talpade and Anjana Sukhani .

The film is the much-awaited follow-up of the uproariously comic smash-hit Golmaal .

Gopal (Ajay Devgan) lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor) who is fascinated by the saas bahu serials on television. She sees the world through the blinders of these cheesy soap operas.

Gopal’s sister Esha (Amrita Arora) has a boyfriend whom Gopal doesn’t like.

And who can forget Gopal’s dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) who speaks in a language that sounds like double entendres.

The story of ‘Golmaal Returns’ is set rolling when Gopal gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitley) from some goons.

Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife Ekta smells fish.

Gopal knows it’s going to be hard to quell her suspicion so he concocts a cock-and-bull story about having stayed the night with a fictitious friend called Anthony Gonsalves.

Ekta refuses to buy his yarn and writes to Anthony (on a fictitious address given to her by Gopal) asking him to visit her.

Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) to pretend to be Anthony. Everything goes according to plan till the address to which Ekta had written to Anthony turns out to be real!

If that isn’t complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera.

The Investigating Officer, Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who is Esha’s boyfriend and cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him.

Madhav’s investigation results in hilarious chaos and tricky situations where a new lie must be invented at every instance to conceal the previous lie!

The misadventures of the seven characters result in a non-stop joyride, evoking laughter and culminating in a sweet but surprising climax to what promises to be the biggest comedy of 2008.

‘Golmaal Returns’ is directed by Rohit Shetty. The film is produced by Shree Ashta Vinayak Cinevision.

It is set to release on October 30.

Khaleda Zia Biography

Khaleda Zia was born to Iskandar Majumder, a businessman, and Taiyaba Majumder at Dinajpur district in north-western Bangladesh in 1945. In 1960, she got married to Ziaur Rahman. Her husband, one of the prominent heroes of the country's liberation war, later became the President of the Republic and formed the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Until the assassination of President Ziaur Rahman in an abortive military coup in Chittagong on 30 May 1981, Khaleda Zia had taken little interest in either politics or public life.

Even when her husband was propelled to power after the political changes in 1975, she remained a shy and withdrawn housewife who devoted most of her time grooming up her two sons.

After the assassination of President Ziaur Rahman, his Vice-President Justice Abdus Sattar took over as the acting President and also the Chairman of the BNP which the slain president founded in 1978.

Within four months of the presidential election in November 1981, the then Chief of Army Staff General H.M. Ershad overthrew Justice Sattar and the BNP government. On 24 March 1982, he proclaimed martial law .

In March 1983, Justice Sattar appointed Khaleda Zia a vice-chairman of BNP. On February 1984, she became the chairperson as Justice Sattar retired from politics. On 10 August the same year, the party elected her the chairperson.

Meanwhile, BNP formed a seven-party alliance in September 1983 to step up movement against the autocratic regime of General Ershad. Khaleda was detained seven times during almost nine years of autocratic rule.

In the face of mass upsurge spearheaded by Khaleda-led seven-party alliance and the eight-party combine led by Hasina, President Ershad resigned on 6 December 1990. He handed over power to a neutral caretaker government, bringing an end to his nine-year autocratic rule.

In 1991, she became the country's first woman Prime Minister through a free and fair general election on 27 February 1991 and formed the government.

She became Prime Minister for the second consecutive term after the BNP had a landslide victory in 15 February 1996 general election to the sixth Jatiya Sangsad. The election was, however, boycotted by all other major parties.

In the 12 June 1996 polls, BNP lost to Sheikh Hasina's Awami League but emerged as the largest opposition party in the country's parliamentary history with 116 seats.

The BNP restored the parliamentary system through the 12th amendment to the Constitution in 1991 and introduced the Caretaker Government through 13th amendment to the Constitution in 1996.

When in power, the government of Khaleda made considerable progress in the education sector, introducing compulsory free primary education, free education for girls up to class ten, stipend for the girl students and food for education programme. It also increased the age-limit for entry into government services from 27 years to 30 years and made highest budgetary allocation in the education sector.

Aiming to return to power, the BNP formed a four-party opposition alliance on 6 January 1999 with the Jatiya Party, the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Islami Oikya Jote and launched several agitation programmes against the ruling Awami League.

The alliance then participated in the 1 October general election and won the polls with a two-third majority and Khaleda Zia was once again sworn in as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India. He became one of the most respected spiritual and political leaders of the 1900's. GandhiJi helped free the Indian people from British rule through nonviolent resistance, and is honored by Indians as the father of the Indian Nation.

The Indian people called Gandhiji 'Mahatma', meaning Great Soul. At the age of 13 Gandhi married Kasturba, a girl the same age. Their parents arranged the marriage. The Gandhis had four children. Gandhi studied law in London and returned to India in 1891 to practice. In 1893 he took on a one-year contract to do legal work in South Africa.

At the time the British controlled South Africa. When he attempted to claim his rights as a British subject he was abused, and soon saw that all Indians suffered similar treatment. Gandhi stayed in South Africa for 21 years working to secure rights for Indian people.

He developed a method of action based upon the principles of courage, nonviolence and truth called Satyagraha. He believed that the way people behave is more important than what they achieve. Satyagraha promoted nonviolence and civil disobedience as the most appropriate methods for obtaining political and social goals. In 1915 Gandhi returned to India. Within 15 years he became the leader of the Indian nationalist movement.

Using the principles of Satyagraha he led the campaign for Indian independence from Britain. Gandhi was arrested many times by the British for his activities in South Africa and India. He believed it was honorable to go to jail for a just cause. Altogether he spent seven years in prison for his political activities.

More than once Gandhi used fasting to impress upon others the need to be nonviolent. India was granted independence in 1947, and partitioned into India and Pakistan. Rioting between Hindus and Muslims followed. Gandhi had been an advocate for a united India where Hindus and Muslims lived together in peace.

On January 13, 1948, at the age of 78, he began a fast with the purpose of stopping the bloodshed. After 5 days the opposing leaders pledged to stop the fighting and Gandhi broke his fast. Twelve days later a Hindu fanatic, Nathuram Godse who opposed his program of tolerance for all creeds and religion assassinated him.

Sheikh Hasina was born on September 28, 1947 at Tungipara, a remote village under Gopalgonj district which is also birth place of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She is the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Her mother Begum Fazilatunnesa was widely respected as a tender hearted lady.

In 1968, Sheikh Hasina was married to an eminent scientist of Bangladesh Mr. M. A. Wazed Miah and they are now the parents of one son and a daughter.

After her marriage, Sheikh Hasina continued her studies and was graduated form the University of Dhaka in 1973. Scion of a political family, she was actively involved in student politics in her college and university days. She gained political experience as the go between in her role to maintain contact between her father and the political and students leader during Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's repeated imprisonment by the Pakistani ruler in late sixties. Always popular among the students, Sheikh Hasina was elected as the chief of the Student's Union of Eden Girls College, the leading women's college in Bangladesh. She was a member of student's League (Chattra League ) of Dhaka University and Secretary of the Chattra League unit in Rokeya Hall. She was also the President of Eden Intermediate Girls College Chattra League. Sheikh Hasina actively participated in the mass upsurge of 1969 and at the time of the Liberation War of 1971, she was imprisoned by Pakistani occupation army along with her husband, mother, sister and brother.

On the fateful night of August 15, 1975 when some disgruntled army officers assassinated the Father of the Nation and elected head of the state Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his wife, three sons and all the inmates of his residence to capture power, Sheikh Hasina was then on a visit to West Germany. Her divine fate led her to escape the conspiracy of eliminating the entire family of the Father of the Nation and subsequently bringing her to the leadership of the largest political Organization in Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina was unanimously elected the president of the Awami League in 1981 while she was still in exile. She was forced to live in exile because of the restrictions put on her return home by the then government in Bangladesh. Ending six years in exile she returned home finally on May 17, 1981 to a tumultuous welcome by million of people when she declared, " I have nothing to lose. I pledge you to fight for restoration of the democratic rights of the people of my country."

In 1982 she was the first to raise the voice of protest against an assumption of state-power through military coups d'etat.

Thereafter, she had to suffer confinement time and again. In 1984 she was put under house arrest in February and then again in November. In March 1985, she was put under house arrest for three months at a stretch. On March 26, 1996 in a statement issued in Dhaka on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said that her party would participate in the general election as part of its movement to put an end to the politics of coups, killing, conspiracies and martial laws." She also said, " We want to have elections not only to form the next government but also to establish a system that represents the people as well"'

Sheikh Hasina became leader of the Opposition in Parliament, commanding the support of 104 elected MPs belonging to her party and alliance. In the Elections of 1991 following the ouster of General Ershad she assumed the mantle of leader of the opposition. Awami League returned to power in Bangladesh after many years in the opposition after the 1996 elections. Under her leadership, the Awami League government was the first government to complete a full 5 year tenure. The 2001 elections saw Awami League losing the elections and once again becoming the largest opposition party.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (also Sheikh Mujib; March 17, 1920 - August 15, 1975) was a Bengali nationalist leader in East Pakistan and first Prime Minister and President of independent Bangladesh. His political career began almost immediately with Pakistan's independence, as founder of the East Pakistan Muslim Students' League and later the Awami League in the 1950s. Both these groups sought to gain greater autonomy for East Pakistan, which was dominated by West Pakistan, though the two were separated by 1,000 miles of Indian territory, and the eastern region had a distinct culture and language of its own.

By 1970, the Awami League won all but two of the 162 seats allocated to East Pakistan in the Pakistani National Assembly. Using this as a power base, Sheikh Mujib rallied for greater autonomy for East Pakistan and the transformation of Pakistan into a federal state consisting of two largely autonomous regions: East and West. When these efforts failed, while the crisis between the two parts of the country was exacerbated by attempts by Pakistan to proclaim Urdu as the country's sole official language--most people in East Pakistan spoke Bengali. In response to these encroachements on the rights of people in East Pakistan, Sheikh Mujib called for a campaign of noncooperation to force the government. Pakistan declared martial law, and a civil war erupted, with East Pakistan gaining support from India. Sheikh Mujib was arrested, but many of his supporters managed to escape to India, where they declared a provisional government for an independent in East Pakistan. By December 1971, West Pakistan troops in East finally surrendered, and the independent state of Bangladesh was declared. In January 12, 1972, Sheikh Mujib became the country's leader.

By that time, the country was in a shambles, the result of a nine-month war for independence and reported atrocities, sometimes described as genocidal, by the West Pakistani forces in the country. Sheikh Mujib attempted to remedy the situation by ruling through executive decree. As the situation became worse, Sheikh Mujib declared a state of emergency, declaring himself president and disbanding all political parties except for the newly formed Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BAKSAL). Nevertheless, change was slow in coming, and hunger and disease were rampant.

On August 15, 1975, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and several members of his family were killed in a military coup. He was replaced by his former minister of commerce and of land revenue Khandekar Moshtaque Ahmed. In 1996, Sheikh Mujib's daughter, Hasina Wazed, was elected prime minister of Bangladesh.

Yash Raj Films have finally revealed the first teaser of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Our first comment... we love it!!! Although you might have never expected to see SRK or the first poster of Rab ne Bana Di Jodi this way, it's truly awesome and has got so much of depth to it. The tag line of the movie goes "There is an Extra Ordinary Love Story in every Jodi".... which is catchy, funny and has a romantic feel to it.

Although most of us were expecting Shahrukh romancing Anushka in Switzerland in the first poster, the teaser is different and good too! It now makes us wonder what the story actually could be. Shahrukh is seen wearing a faded shirt, with a bad pair of trousers and completely awful shoes... probably his worst on-screen look till date. But we do know that he's got another dashing look in the movie which we can't wait to see.

In short, Adi is a Genius and we love his work!

23% of Texans Still Think Obama is a Muslim

A poll compiled by the University of Texas has it that 23% of Texans think Presidential candidate Barack Obama is a Muslim. Only 45% correctly identified the Democratic nominee as Protestant.

National polls typically show an ignorance level of 5 to 10% on this issue and this may go some way to explain Rep presidential candidate John McCain and GOP Sen. John Cornyn's comfortable lead in the same poll.

The belief that Obama is a Muslim stems principally from internet rumours and gossip on radio talk shows. Some GOP supporters have gone so far as to believe that the Democrat leader is an Arab.
